On September 19, 2018 the Government of Canada introduced legislation providing for Remediation Agreements – a Made in Canada DPA regime. As we approach the second anniversary of this potentially significant change in the legal landscape, Canada has still not seen its first Remediation Agreement. Please join Stéphane Hould (Senior Counsel and Remediation Agreement Coordinator, Prosecution Policy and Knowledge Integration, Public Prosecutions Service of Canada) and Denis Beaudoin (RCMP National Division, Sensitive and International Investigations) in an interactive discussion with Mark Morrison (TI Canada Director and National Practice Group Leader of Blakes Business Crimes, Investigations and Compliance Group) about the current status of Remediation Agreements in Canada, the respective roles of the RCMP and PPSC in the Remediation Agreement process, and what Companies should expect from the process. Expert panelists will also engage in an interactive discussion of topical subjects such as:
Considerations related to self-reporting;
The expectations of authorities when it comes to co-operation;
Reasonable expectations for Companies considering pursuit of a Remediation Agreement;
PPSC guidance on the process for consideration of potential Remediation Agreements;
The role of the Attorney General in the process; and
Mandatory and optional content of a Remediation Agreement.
