In celebration of International Anti-Corruption Day, TI Canada invites you to join us for an event on December 9, 2015. We are hosting a group discussion with distinguished speakers from Canada and abroad to tackle the proposed changes to Canada’s anti-money laundering legislation, and to showcase Transparency International’s recent report, “Just for Show? Reviewing G20 Promises on Beneficial Ownership.” This is a free event! Drinks and refreshments will be provided.The event will be divided into two sessions. The first will cover the Department of Finance’s proposed amendments to the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act. The second will focus on a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of Canada’s legal framework and compliance with the G20 principles as it relates to identifying and verifying beneficial owners. Our chosen speakers will provide diverse perspectives from government, civil society and the private sector.A detailed agenda will follow.
