Transparency International Canada is the Canadian Chapter of the world’s leading coalition against corruption. 

TI Canada is seeking candidates to fill up to three (3) positions on its volunteer Board of Directors, starting in June 2026 for three-year terms.

ABOUT TI CANADA

Transparency International Canada’s vision is a transparent, participatory, and fair Canada in which government, politics, business, civil society, and the daily lives of people are free from corruption. Its mission is to combat corruption and foster a culture of integrity in all sectors of Canadian society by conducting research, policy development, capacity-building, and advocacy.

A registered Canadian charitable organization, Transparency International Canada (TI Canada) is a national organization operated by an active volunteer board. 

TI Canada works as a multistakeholder platform by engaging civil society, business, government, and the public to tackle corruption and to increase transparency and accountability through root cause and systemslevel approaches. 

In carrying out our work we are:

  • Collaboration-driven: We work with stakeholders from government, civil society, academia, business, media, the Transparency International movement, and the public to fight corruption and promote integrity.

  • Evidence-based: We are committed to factual accuracy and empirical rigour. Our programs, initiatives, and advocacy efforts are shaped by comprehensive research and thorough analysis. 

  • Solutions-oriented: We are committed to developing practical and effective solutions to address corruption challenges.

To achieve our mission, TI Canada’s Strategic Objectives under its 2024-2030 Strategy  are:

  3. Protect the public’s resources

  4. Secure integrity in politics.

ABOUT THE POSITIONS

TI Canada is seeking to recruit three (3) new Directors for its volunteer Board of Directors.

In addition to their governance role, Directors are expected to provide volunteer support to the program and activities led by the organization’s small professional secretariat. Directors are also expected to contribute to fundraising efforts for TI Canada, and to actively leverage their networks to advance the organization’s mission.

The Board of Directors meets virtually four times a year. Board members will also attend the Annual General Meeting as well as an annual Strategic Retreat.  Directors should be available to travel to Toronto for the Strategic Retreat in the fall. Ad hoc and standing committee meetings also take place virtually during the year. 

TI Canada aims to have a diverse Board of Directors that balances individual diversity, geography, background, and professions to reflect Canada’s diversity and bring a range of knowledge and experience to the organization.

Geography

For the open positions, TI Canada is seeking to recruit at candidates from across Canada. 

Thematic knowledge

While all candidates should have knowledge of and a strong interest in topics such as good governance, anticorruption, transparency and accountability, TI Canada is seeking candidates with (but not exclusive to):

  • Knowledge of the banking, defense or infrastructure sectors 

  • Legal, corporate compliance and/or business ethics experience

Diversity
