Transparency International Canada welcomes new Chair and celebrates board transitions
With gratitude for those stepping down and excitement for what lies ahead, TI Canada’s 2025 Annual General Meeting marked a new chapter of leadership.
Transparency International Canada is pleased to welcome Susan Côté-Freeman as the new Chair and President of its Board of Directors, following a unanimous vote of support from the membership at the 2025 Annual General Meeting. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Toby Mendel, who concluded his service as Chair at this AGM.
Susan, a long-time advocate for integrity and accountability, previously served as Chair of TI Canada and has remained an active board member. She brings decades of leadership in governance, human rights and anti-corruption to this renewed role. Her term comes at a pivotal moment for the organisation as it continues to expand its programming and deepen its policy impact across Canada.
The board also reappointed three directors for second terms: Emmy Babalola, Anthony Cole and Lindsey Marchessault. Each has played a vital role in TI Canada’s strategic development and operational strengthening in recent years, including the launch of a national Business Integrity Forum and efforts to secure multi-year institutional partnerships.
The AGM was also an opportunity to express deep appreciation to outgoing board members Daniela Chimisso dos Santos and Lida Preyma, both of whom completed six years of dedicated service. During their tenure, they contributed significantly to TI Canada’s growth, championed initiatives around whistleblower protection and open government, and provided steady governance through periods of transition. Both will remain valued members of our movement.
As we look ahead to 2026, we are excited to build on this momentum with Susan at the helm. Her commitment to integrity and inclusive governance reflects the values that guide our work every day.
